Here are some helpful guidelines to ensure you’re always prepared to provide excellent service to our clients and have a positive experience on our platform.

Craft a Perfect Profile

Profile Picture

Upload a clear photo to help businesses familiarize themselves with who they have selected for a shift.

Do not post a photo with multiple people in it.

Profile Video

In a brief video (20 seconds or less), introduce yourself and your relevant experience to the businesses on our platform.

Warning

You will NOT be able to apply to shifts until you have completed your profile video. Profile videos help increase the likelihood of being selected by a business!

Work Experience

Highlight any hospitality roles you’ve held in the past to help businesses understand whether you’re a good fit for the shift.

Before Your Shift

Do

Only apply to shifts you know you can work

If you are no longer able to work a shift that you applied for, be sure to withdraw your application.

Do

Apply to shifts with multiple slots to increase your chances of being accepted

Sometimes businesses need multiple Shifters for a shift. If you're a new Shifter, applying to shifts with multiple slots is a great way to increase your chances of being accepted.

Do

Familiarize yourself with the shift location and how to get there

You will not be able to see the exact location of the shift you’re applying for until you have completed one shift through shiftNOW. Until then, the location of the shift will only be shared with you if you are accepted.

Review the shift instructions

Do

Communicate with the business about any questions you have

Use the phone calling feature in-app.

Do

Show up early to receive proper instruction on the shift assignment

Do

If you’re running late for a shift, be sure to mark yourself as “running late” within the app and provide an estimated time of arrival

In the event that your ETA is no longer accurate, be sure to use the phone calling feature in-app to contact the business and provide an update.

During Your Shift

To maintain a high rating and Shifter Reliability %, be sure to:

After Your Shift

Review the business you worked for

Do

The business has up to 48 hours to provide payment

After 48 hours, payment will be automatically deposited into your Stripe wallet but the majority of businesses initiate payout in less than a day.

No-Show & Cancellation Policy

Canceling more than 24 hours prior to the start of your shift

Do

When more than 24 hours notice is provided for a cancellation, your account access and Shifter Reliability % will not be affected.

Canceling less than 24 hours but more than 6 hours prior to the start of your shift

Impact:

A decrease in your Shifter Reliability %

Inability to view new shifts in the mobile app for 7 days

Warning

Inability to apply for new shifts for 7 days

Warning

No “New Shift” notifications for 7 days

Warning

Existing shift applications will be automatically withdrawn

All currently scheduled shifts will be canceled

Canceling less than 6 hours prior to the start of your shift

A decrease in your Shifter Reliability %

Warning

Inability to view new shifts in the mobile app for 14 days

Inability to apply for new shifts for 14 days

No “New Shift” notifications for 14 days

Warning

Existing shift applications will be automatically withdrawn

All currently scheduled shifts will be canceled

Not showing up or canceling after your shift start time

First Offense Impact:

A decrease in your Shifter Reliability %

Inability to view new shifts in the mobile app for 30 days

Inability to apply for new shifts for 30 days

No “New Shift” notifications for 30 days

Warning

Existing shift applications will be automatically withdrawn

All currently scheduled shifts will be canceled

Warning

On your first shift, canceling after the scheduled start time, or failing to show up for a confirmed shift without canceling results in an indefinite suspension.

Access to the shiftNOW app will remain suspended until an appeal email is sent to support@shiftnow.com or by contacting our support team through the mobile app's messaging feature.

Second Offense Impact:

Inability to access the shiftNOW mobile app indefinitely

Warning

Existing shift applications will be automatically withdrawn

Warning

All currently scheduled shifts will be canceled

Warning

Suspensions may be appealed by sending an appeal email to support@shiftnow.com or by contacting our support team through the mobile app's messaging feature.

Failure to confirm by the deadline if accepted by the client more than 24 hours before the shift start time

Impact:

A decrease in your Shifter Reliability %

Warning

Inability to view new shifts in the mobile app for 7 days

Warning

Inability to apply for new shifts for 7 days

Warning

No “New Shift” notifications for 7 days

Indefinite Suspension Policy

Every new shifter on the shiftNOW Platform starts with a 5-star rating and a 100% Shifter Reliability %.

Your Shifter Reliability % will decrease if you:

Don't

Cancel your shift engagement

Don't

Fail to show up for a confirmed shift engagement without canceling

Don't

Fail to confirm the shift engagement by the confirmation deadline

A Shifter Reliability % that drops below 60% after acceptance or confirmation to at least five shifts will result in the following:

Warning

Indefinite suspension of your shiftNOW account

Warning

Withdrawal of all existing shift applications

Warning

Cancellation of all confirmed shifts

Other Information

    Taxes

    As an independent contractor, you are responsible for keeping track of your earnings and accurately reporting them in tax filings. If you earned $600 or more in a given tax year through the shiftNOW platform, you will receive a 1099 form via our partner Stripe.

    Occupational Accident Insurance

    While working a shift, Shifters are covered by shiftNOW's Occupational Accident Insurance (OAI) policy. OAI Insurance is automatically deducted from a Shifter's earnings ($0.38 per shift hour worked).

  • Adding a user

    Referral Bonus

    Refer friends or family to shiftNOW and you both will earn $20! In the mobile app, visit “Profile” then “Refer a Friend” to get your Shifter referral code that others can use when signing up.
